62.Q. Why can't the good we do make us right with God, or at least help make us right with Him?
A. Because the righteousness which can pass God's scrutiny must be entirely perfect and must in every way measure up to the divine law. Even the very best we do in this life is imperfect and stained with sin.
63.Q. how can you that the good we do doesn't earn anything when God promises to reward it in this live and the next?
A. This reward is not earned;it is a gift of grace.
64.Q. But doesn't this teaching make people indifferent and wicked?
A No. It is impossible for those grafted into Christ by true not faith to produce fruits of gratitude.

Luke 5: 31-32
Then Jesus answered the and said to them, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but the sinner to repentance.

The sufficiency of His grace does not appear to us until we compare our weakness with the strength of a test. It is like the power of an antidote, which is only revealed after a poison has been taken. The precious value of medicine is like wise known only by disease. Similarly, we shall never know the strength of God's grace until we experience temptation.
